Humana Dental Insurance for Seniors: Real Prices by Age and the Fine Print (2026)

We pulled Humana's quotes in 10 states and read its Florida plan documents. Age doesn't raise the price after 65, but most plans won't replace teeth you already lost.

Humana dental insurance for seniors comes in two forms: dental benefits inside a Humana Medicare Advantage plan, or an individual Humana dental plan you buy next to Original Medicare. We pulled Humana's own quotes and plan documents. In Florida, the price of every individual plan stays the same from age 65 to 85. However, every Humana plan there that pays for dentures except one refuses to replace teeth you lost before you enrolled.

Humana Dental Insurance for Seniors: Your Two Routes

The first decision is which kind of Humana coverage you're buying, because the two routes work very differently.

What Humana's Individual Plans Cost at 65, 75 and 85

We ran Humana's online quote tool for one applicant on October 21, 2026, for a plan starting October 26. In Florida, we repeated it at ages 40, 55, 65, 75 and 85. As a result, one pattern stood out: once you're 65, age makes no difference at all.

Florida planMonthly at 65, 75 and 85Younger buyers
Dental Value DHMO$12.99Same price at 40 and 55
Preventive Value$22.99Same price at 40 and 55
Bright Plus$25.99$23.99 at 40 and 55
Loyalty Plus$41.99$35.99 at 40; $41.99 from 55
Complete Dental$57.99Same price at 40 and 55
Humana Extend 2500$67.99Same price at 40 and 55

In Florida, only two plans are priced by age at all, and neither changes after 65. The DHMO also adds a $35 enrollment fee and a $1 recurring administrative fee.

Prices do vary by state, though. Here's what a 65-year-old would pay for the plans that cover dentures:

What Each Humana Plan Covers

Prices don't show what a plan pays, so we read Humana's Florida benefit summaries for every dental plan. Other states can differ, so check your state's summary before you enroll.

Even so, two details matter for seniors. First, Loyalty Plus has no waiting period, but it pays only 20% toward dentures in year one, which is the trap our guide to no-waiting-period plans describes. Second, the DHMO's denture copays are paid to the dentist, and the plan's summary says lab charges are paid separately on top.

Already Missing Teeth? Read This Before You Enroll

In fact, this is the clause that matters most for seniors. In Florida, Loyalty Plus, Complete Dental and all three Humana Extend plans state: "Replacement of congenitally missing teeth or teeth extracted prior to coverage under the policy are not covered." In other words, if your teeth are already gone, these plans won't pay toward the denture that replaces them.

In contrast, the Florida DHMO summary doesn't list that exclusion. Instead, it excludes treatment started before your coverage begins, and you must use a dentist in the plan's network. Our guide to common exclusions in senior dental plans also explains how missing tooth clauses work across insurers.

In Florida, five of Humana's six denture-covering plans won't replace teeth you lost before enrolling.

If you need a denture now and no plan will pay for it, a dental discount plan is another route. It isn't insurance, and you pay a reduced fee at participating dentists with no waiting period. Ask the dentist for the discounted price before you join, and compare it with our discount plan vs. insurance guide.

The Waiting-Period Rule That Catches Medicare Advantage Members

Humana's own guide for seniors on Medicare suggests pairing a Medicare Advantage plan with a stand-alone dental plan. Yet the fine print on Humana's stand-alone plans works against that move.

For example, Complete Dental's 12-month wait for dentures can be waived if you show 12 months of prior coverage. However, the Florida summary defines prior coverage as a stand-alone dental insurance plan, and it adds: "Mandatory Supplemental Benefits included in a Medicare Advantage plan and Medicaid plans are not considered creditable prior coverage." Humana Extend 5000 uses the same rule.

So if you leave a Medicare Advantage plan with dental benefits and buy Complete Dental, you still wait a year for a denture. Plan the switch before you need the work, not after. Our comparison of stand-alone dental insurance and Medicare Advantage dental covers the trade-offs.

Humana Medicare Advantage Dental in 2027

For the Medicare Advantage route, we counted Humana's 2027 plans in the benefit files that insurers submit to CMS. We included general plans anyone can join and left out special needs and employer plans. The counts are plans, not members.

Every general Humana plan includes comprehensive dental, compared with about 85% of all general Medicare Advantage plans. Humana's median yearly dental limit is also higher than the $1,500 median across all general plans with comprehensive dental. The bigger change is what you pay for dentures:

Chart description

Among general Humana Medicare Advantage plans that include dentures: in 2026, 50% charged nothing and 50% charged 30%, and none charged 50%. In 2027, 22% charge nothing, 32% charge 30% and 46% charge 50%.

In 2026, half of these plans charged nothing for dentures and the other half charged 30%. For 2027, nearly half charge 50%, so check your plan's Annual Notice of Change. Every one of them limits dentures to one set every five years. Also, 112 Humana plans sell dentures only through an optional dental package, with a median premium of $52.10 a month. For the market-wide picture, see our guide to whether Medicare covers dentures.

A Worked Example: One Full Upper Denture in Florida

Say you're 65, live in Florida and need a full upper denture. CareCredit's 2026 survey puts the Florida average for a traditional full denture at $1,991. Here's your first-year cost on each Humana individual plan if those teeth are already gone when you enroll:

When the teeth are already gone, a plan that excludes them costs more than paying the dentist directly.

Chart description

Humana Extend 2500: $2,807 including premiums. Complete Dental: $2,687. Loyalty Plus: $2,495. No insurance: $1,991. Dental Value DHMO: $753 plus lab fees.

These three plans pay nothing here because of the missing tooth clause, so you'd pay the full $1,991 plus a year of premiums. The DHMO total is the $550 copay, 12 months of premiums and fees, plus a lab fee we couldn't price.

The picture changes if the teeth come out after you enroll. In that case, Loyalty Plus would pay 20% in year one, for a total of about $2,127 including premiums. Complete Dental would pay half after its 12-month wait, for about $1,774 including 13 months of premiums. On a 2027 Humana Medicare Advantage plan that charges 50% for dentures, you'd pay about $996, within a $2,000 yearly limit. Our guide to the best dental insurance for seniors compares other insurers.

How Humana Compares for Seniors

Overall, Humana dental insurance for seniors has clear strengths: flat pricing after 65, plans you can buy any time, and a network of more than 143,000 dentists and specialists. Its weak spot is the missing tooth clause on almost every plan that covers dentures. Delta Dental's AARP plans have a similar clause on two of three PPO plans in most states, as our AARP dental insurance review shows. If you're comparing Humana plans for other reasons, our full Humana dental review covers the network and reviews. For implants, see our guide to implant coverage for seniors.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is Humana dental insurance per month for seniors?

In our October 2026 quotes for a 65-year-old, Humana's DHMO ran $12.99 to $16 a month where it's sold. Complete Dental ran $49.99 to $61.99, and Extend 5000 ran $93.99 to $105.99, depending on the state.

Does Humana charge seniors more for dental insurance?

Not in our Florida quotes. No Humana dental plan cost more at 75 or 85 than at 65. Only Loyalty Plus and Bright Plus changed with age at all, and only before 65.

Does Humana dental cover dentures for seniors?

Yes, on Loyalty Plus, Complete Dental, the Extend plans and the DHMO, usually once every five years. In Florida, though, all but the DHMO exclude teeth extracted before your coverage started.

Does Humana Medicare Advantage cover dental implants?

No general Humana Medicare Advantage plan includes implants as a built-in benefit for 2026 or 2027, according to CMS plan files. Humana Extend 2500 and 5000, which are individual plans, cover implants up to a lifetime limit.

Who does Humana use for dental insurance?

Humana insures its own individual dental plans. In Florida, the plans we read are insured by Humana Insurance Company, and members use Humana's own dental network.

The Bottom Line

Humana dental insurance for seniors doesn't charge older buyers more, at least in our Florida quotes. The catch is in the fine print. If your teeth are already missing, most Humana plans won't pay for the denture, and Medicare Advantage dental won't shorten Humana's waiting periods. Read your state's benefit summary before you enroll, and compare it with the Medicare Advantage plans in your area before December 7.

This guide is for general information and isn't insurance advice. Prices and benefits vary by state and change over time, so confirm details with Humana or a licensed agent before you enroll.

How we gathered the data: we requested quotes from Humana's online shopping tool on October 21, 2026, for one applicant, in 10 states at age 65 and in Florida at ages 40 to 85. We read all of Humana's Florida individual dental benefit summaries (forms dated January 2026). For Medicare Advantage, we counted Humana's general plans in the CMS Plan Benefit Package files for 2026 and 2027, excluding special needs and employer plans.
